Casa Ferreirinha is named after the affectionate way in which D. Antonia Adelaide Ferreira, its most notable owner and administrator, was called by the viticulturers of the time.  
With exceptional dedication and insight, she managed to multiply the family's assets and contribute to the wine production of the Douro.
The winery gained the worldwide fame it has today thanks to winemaker Fernando Nicolau de Almeida and his Barca Velha, the first high-quality still wine from the Douro.
